1) Get a Client
First and most importantly, you'll need a client to connect to IRC. A free, easy client for people who know very little about IRC is
http://mibbit.com/chat/ . If you know of another client and are familiar to IRC feel free to use that. The rest of the tutorial will have instructions for Mibbit. If you're using a different client, just use the same IRC server address and channels from the rest of the tutorial.
2) Connecting to the Server
The server most, if not all, eRepublik chat will be on is irc.rizon.net. Mibbit makes this easy. In the dropdown box next to the text "IRC," choose "Rizon(webirc)." It's that easy.
3) Choosing the Channel
First, in the box that says "Nick," type in a username, preferably your in-game name. The most important channel for you to know right now is #TC. When in the client, there is a simple way to open a new channel or change channels. In your message box, type /join #CHANNEL, replacing channel with the name of the channel. Both the / and # are very important.
4) Some Basic Commands
/msg nickserv register PASSWORD EMAIL : Replace PASSWORD with a password and EMAIL with an email. This will register your nick so no one else can use it.
/msg nickserv identify PASSWORD : Replace PASSWORD with the password you created in the previous step to identify yourself each time you log on.
/nick USERNAME : Replace USERNAME with a username to change your nickname.
/join #CHANNEL : See step 3.
/leave #CHANNEL : Replace CHANNEL with the channel name to leave the channel.
